‘Flesh’ is a research to the skin: the fleshy shell around our body. What is the meaning of this matter when it is not exposed around a human body, but rather in the middle of an open space? Confronted with pieces of ‘flesh’ in an abnormal context, a strange feeling of desolation occurs. ‘Flesh’ shows how this feeling seems to evoke fear in many of us.
For Artscience festival Kaalstaart in Amersfoort, IrmaJoanne creates a mixed media installation from fleshy objects, made from latex and ‘printed’ with video projection. Thereby she exposes photos of a sculpture of a human body covered in flesh.
