After earning her degree in fashion from Parsons School of Design , Benedikta Karaisl worked for several years in high-end evening wear. Last fall she, together with her partner Nora Abousteit, launched BurdaStyle, a website offering downloadable, open-source sewing patterns and the knowledge its users need to customize them.
