Michael Burton is a multidisciplinary artist using film, photography, performance, living organisms and biological systems.
Michael studied BA Fine Art Sculpture at Leeds University, after which he worked for 4½ years in Contemporary Dance at Laban. In 2007, he graduated from MA Design Interactions at the Royal College of Art and now lives and works in London.
His work acts as provocations to stimulate ethical, social and cultural debate around our scientific and technological desires and pursuits. He aims to give tangible visions and experiences of our future manipulation of human evolution through emerging tools of genetic engineering, bio and nanotechnology.
Michael exhibits Internationally and leads a collaborative practice, which has included work with organisations such as the Wellcome Trust, Foresight Government Office for Science and leading scientists, performers, choreographers, designers and architects.
