Rene is a pioneering executive/entrepreneur and has created and headed unique and prestigious companies, partnerships and initiatives. He is passionate about new business models in Health Industry using advances in technology and media. Rene has lived and worked on four different continents.

During the last years, he has been working on the transformation of UCB from a hybrid group into a patient centered Biopharma company. To truly connect with patients, UCB and PatientsLikeMe have created a strategic partnership, the first time pharma openly and scientifically engages with social media to learn about patients’ experience. In addition, he has introduced new market research methodologies using social media in order to get exploratory, “unbiased” insights in patient needs. To inform patients and drive corporate strategy, a new corporate branding integrated in the brand architecture has been developed through a unique bottom-up process, also driven by digital.

Before joining the Health Industry, Rene ran his own agency, ZaPPWeRK, which specialized in Internet technology, marketing strategy, and design. The company provided a suite of services to leading organisations and brands and headed prestigious initiatives. In 2001 ZaPPWeRK has been overall winner of the Europrix with the production www.boschuniverse.com <www.boschuniverse.com/> . Since 2003, the company has partnered with the Total Identity Network, one of the leading international corporate identity network in the Netherlands.
