GIONATA GATTO (ITALY, 1982) IS A DESIGNER, CURRENTLY WORKING FROM ROTTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS.
HIS APPROACH TO DESIGN IS FIRMLY CONNECTED TO THE OBJECTIVE OF QUESTIONING THE SIGNIFICANCE OF DAILY-LIFE PRODUCTS, RESULTING IN NARRATIVE INVESTIGATIONS RELATED TO PRODUCTION PROCESSES, MATERIALS, ARTIFACTS AND SERVICES. THE PROJECTS OF THE STUDIO ARE OFTEN PERCEIVED BY THE PUBLIC AS EVOCATIVE TOOLS AND PROPONENTS OF ENGAGEMENT AND DIALOGUES.
THE STUDIO'S PROJECTS ARE INITIATED IN SEVERAL WAYS, INCLUDING COMMISSIONS FROM DESIGN COMPANIES AND LABELS, SELF-INITIATED PROJECTS OR COLLABORATIONS WITH PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERS, SUCH AS UNIVERSITIES AND RESEARCH INSTITUTES.
THE WORK OF THE STUDIO HAS BEEN EXHIBITED IN GALLERIES AND EVENTS WORLDWIDE, INCLUDING SPAZIO ROSSANA ORLANDI, TRIENNALE DI MILANO, MAISON & OBJET, SOTHEBY'S, TIJDELIJK MUSEUM AND OTHERS.
SINCE 2014 GIONATA LECTURES FUTURE THINKING & FUTURE PRODUCTS AT THE WILLEM DE KOONING ACADEMY IN ROTTERDAM (NL).
