In spite of his use of a sober visual language, Sala deliberately and cunningly uses the opportunities offered by the medium of film. His camera work is usually static, while in his most recent work, sound – or the lack thereof – takes an increasingly prominent role. By way of the near autonomous use of cinematic means, Sala provides his installations with a subtle detail that makes the images, the filmed elements, break free from the everyday reality they are part of.
