The Watchers is a new project by Martin Butler / The Liminal Institute in collaboration with Mediamatic.
Butler has constructed six performance areas in different buildings around the Oude Groenmarkt in Haarlem. The public is invited to listen to and watch these areas using special infrared binoculars, a piece of technology designed by Mediamatic. This way, you see everything you hear, and you hear everything you see.
The entire space becomes a stage, a theatrical experience linking the watchers and the watched. The Watchers plays with boundaries. What is fiction? What is reality? What is recorded? What is live? What is staged? What is coincidental? What is constructed?

The Watchers takes place on Thursday October 7th. The piece is performed five times: at 5.30pm, 6.30pm, 7.30pm, 9.30pm and 10.15pm. The locations are all on or around the Oude Groenmarkt in Haarlem.
