Schommelclub Concert

Thursday January 5, 16:00 - Live tunes and silent films

This concert does not take place on January 7, as noted in the previous e-mail, but on January 5. Sorry about this. See you in the new year!

For a few hours Schommelclub's 1000 meter space will be filled with music and act as one giant resonator. Hauntingly amplifying an experimental jazz improvisation by Gareth Davis and Leo Fabriek (The Julie Mittens), and the historical sounds of Ensemble Rabaskadol. Including silent swinging films. Find out more on our website, and RSVP there too.

Vergroot

Gareth Davis on bass clarinet - Gareth Davis has performed both traditional and contemporary music. He is interested in the addition of interactive visual media to music, and exploring new ways of presenting 21st century pieces. This picture was found on the Monday Evening Concerts website.

Van Gendthallen

The Van Gendthallen are prime examples of Amsterdam's industrial heritage. Situated on the Oostenburgereiland, the five industrial halls were abandoned in the mid 1990s. Almost twenty years later, it is still unclear what the new function of these buildings should be. Mediamatic is contemplating moving to the Van Gendthallen. Part of this decision making process consists of organizing a number of experimental projects in the beautiful buildings.
