A 30 minute session of calm abiding meditation, also known as Samatha meditation. Marcela Szwarc has guided people through each meditation class.

In calm abiding, we fostered the mind’s ability to be still, and on our mindfulness of breath through mantra. The class was open to beginners as well as regular practitioners.

Calm abiding steadies, composes, unifies and concentrates the mind, while obscuring distractions and bringing out inner tranquility.

This form of meditation is most commonly associated with Theravada and Tibetan Buddhism, so the participants have learned a bit about Buddhism every session. Next sessions were planned on August 18 and 25. Location: VOC-kade 10, 1018 LG Oostenburg Amsterdam.
