El Basilisco is an artists-run residency programme that brings together artists from the interior of Argentina with others from abroad, to participate in an intensive working period that includes events to facilitate interaction with artist peers from the local scene, students and general public. They offer living and working space in an old 'chorizo' style house in Avellaneda (10 minute bus ride from downtown Buenos Aires) for a period of up to three months, for two or three visual artists, also open to multidisciplinary practice.

El Basilisco's visual Artists Residency Programme is a project coordinated by a group of artists looking to broaden possibilities for national, regional and international cultural exchange. Activities began in September 2004 as part of a non-profit cultural programme that is made possible due to the personal efforts of many artists and members of the cultural community along with essential support received from several institutions.
