Casa del Popolo

A family-run neighborhood vegetarian hot-spot! Part fair-trade café, part music venue, part resto-bar and part art gallery.
phone 514-284-3804 for reservations.

Monthly events at casa include the spoken word night, the 3rd Sunday of every month, WORDS AND MUSIC AT THE CASA. We also host a monthly COMIX JAM the last Wednesday of the month, where artists get together to create impromptu graphic art.

La Sala Rosa

Built in 1932 by the Jewish community (a common phrase in Montreal), the red room is a cultural center for people of Spanish descent.
It should be noted, however, that la sala rosa also hosts a myriad of events. For example, you might find a cabaret, a free-jazz master, a breakdance competition, some good ol' rock 'n' roll, reggae, djs, folk, indie-rock, musique actuelle, film screenings, a flamenco show, poetry readings or some guy sitting in a tent blowing thru your mind.

Their calendar extensively lists all the upcoming events and is always (always!) worth checking out!

Also, The restaurant downstairs is the perfect precursor to any concert going on up stairs. They offer tapas, paella and a menu that changes weekly in order to contuinly bring old-time Spanish cuisine to Montreal.
