Born in Beirut, 1978
I obtained my BA in Interior Architecture from the Lebanese American University in Beirut, Lebanon, where I worked at several design studios, mainly on residential design projects. In addition to that, I started developing a furniture collection infused with poetic texts in free style Arabic calligraphy of my creation: Furniture in Arabic.
This year, I did my MA in Design (Critical Practice) at Goldsmiths College in London. During the course, a socially conscious and mediatory aspect emerged in most of my projects. I am interested in developing this aspect of my work, and the entire question of how the design object would function as a device that has impact on people’s lives within the public space in relation to its social, cultural, and political concerns.
