All her life, Marieke de Hoop has been working with paper, either in collaboration with others or alone. She frequently went abroad to learn about papermaking techniques and materials. In Japan, for instance, she learned how to make kozo paper, the best-known and highest-quality handmade paper in the world. She likes to share this knowledge and does so in unusual ways, for instance, Marieke de Hoop travels all over the country with a travelling 'PapierLab' to make paper from unexpected raw materials. After all, the most wonderful materials are suitable for making paper. She also gives workshops where all facets of the craft process are dealt with, from making pulp to preparing the made paper for printing.
