The Ministry of Education, Culture and Science has given Virtueel Platform the task of supporting interdisciplinary e-culture. VP’s aim is to encourage more cross-overs and new kinds of partnerships, particularly between parties who would not normally work together. The resulting projects then go on to serve as examples of good practice.
Since it was founded in 1998 the development of VP has run parallel with the development of e-culture. VP goes in search of successful projects to evaluate and publish to a wider audience, organising events for its various communities. These events include conferences, workshops, lectures and meetings. VP also builds and maintains a database of good practice projects, and writes and publishes literature on e-culture.
