In year 2004, Lima didn't have a store dedicated only to young fashion designers. As some of the fashion designers that started to appear studied art with me, I decided to open one where I could also sell vintage stuff. I didn't have more space in my room to collect amazing garbage I found in flea markets. The idea was to make a mix of treasures to decorate, give and wear, inspirated in a flea market (Pulga = flea in spanish) in a really small shop I rented in Miraflores. The size also had to do with the name, now that we've grow we're called to be a "pulgón".
A couple of years later many shops opened in Lima, and now we have more than 20, as well as young fashion designers'd created a movement similar to Palermo's fairs in Buenos Aires. Luckily, we can say proudly that we helped to develop this emerging design escene and to give some color to Lima`s gray streets...
Organization:
Pulga, la tienda
The first shop dedicated to young fashion designers in Lima.
Pulga started 5 years ago in a 15m2 space, selling clothes of 11 young fashion designers. Now we are 90m2, sell more than 100 designer's work plus local publications, music and vintage items. We also had a tiny art gallery, made some innovative fashion shows and crazy anniversary parties. Recently opened a little sucursal in Cuzco.
