Kawahara's music belonged to the Japanese cyber-occult underground media scene of the early 1990s, combining experimental electronic, exotica and new age music.
His music was based on ideas that went beyond common sense and rationalism. Kawahara explored with Holophonics, producing his own 3D recordings.
