Marcelle van Bemmel makes illusions of light where objects metamorphose and move of their own volition, creating allegories of seeing’ and 'reading'. Her performances are short, intense impressions at the edge of truth and delusion. Some of her works - performances, videos, installations - are re-presentations of natural creatures and objects. Recent exhibitions and performances include: Galerie de Tijd, Haarlem, The Netherlands (1988); Peeneewally Kijkhuis, Den Haag, The Netherlands (1988) and Nova Zembla, 's-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands (1988); Beeckestijn-Felison, Velzen, The Netherlands (1989); The Red King ’s Dream Cagliari, Italy (1989); Galerie Faro, Rotterdam, The Netherlands (1990); Through the Looking Glass Teatro Arka, Assemini, Italy.
