Being able to use the laser cutter at FabLab, rather than having to cut just one ornament by hand with a fret saw, has enabled this project to take on a kind of ‘promotional stunt’ format. 100 fret-worked (laser-cut) mottos are posted to the inhabitants of the chicest homes in the district - a gift from the “motto-promotion team”. The accompanying letter encourages recipients to send a digital photo of the emblem in their own home. Shopkeepers throughout the neighbourhood are asked to display a larger fretwork in their shops for ‘Motto Promotion Day’.
