Jeanne van Heeswijk's interests lie in new ideas and perspectives resulting from human dialogue. She uses her work to develop cultural models for public space. This is how she turned an empty shopping centre in Vlaardingen into a lively centre for art and intercultural projects, called De Strip. In 2002 she received the Hendrik Chabot Prize Rotterdam for her entire oeuvre. Presently, she is a participant of the Venetian Biënnale that runs to November 4, 2003.
