In a group of 16 international dance film makers, editors and choreographers, you use your own footage (the registration of a performance for instance) to make an interactive dance film in a 5-day workshop. You can also use famous classical dance films provided by Cinedans.
The workshop is a pressure cooker style, intense process where you get to know the possibilities of interactive storytelling, design your own project, discuss it with peers and experienced trainers, and build your own working prototype.
In the process, participants will study the specific possibilities offered and questions raised by non-linear storytelling: How does one maintain tension in a non-linear story? How can the viewers' actions be integrated meaningfully into the narrative? What does it mean to replace the absolute cut with the possible link?
As practical research tool, participants will use the Korsakow System. No special technical knowledge is required: technical assistants will be present throughout the sessions, which will be conducted in English.
If you are interested in participating in this workshop, send e-mail to korsakow@mediamatic.net
