As usual, the Motel Mozaïque crew is also offering their normal batch of Rotterdam hospitality. For 20 euros, you can order a sleeping in art ticket, which will guarantee you an aesthetic night of rest with an anti-hangover breakfast. During the day, Rotterdammers will give you guided tours of the city and show off the hidden gems of their hometown.
Motel Mozaïque's performance art program will include the american dance company of Ann Liv Young's rendition of Snow White, a remake of Kurt Cobain by Matijs Jansen, and a science fiction machine by Anne Karin Ten Bosch. Artist Ulf Amnide will attempt to contrast artificiality and authenticity in a decor from IKEA.
In fine art, Motel Mozaique will open the Low Tek Arcade, an art project by Ties Ten Bosch and Gert-Jan van den Akerboom and Risky Business, a cooperation between the collective Kimberly Clark and artists Monique van Heist, Lydia Schouten and Cora Roorda van Eijsinga. Low Tek Arcade is a 588 bit screen made for tic-tac-toe and battleships, while Risky Business is about alter egos.
This April will also bring the premiere of The Eternal Children, a documentary by RAM's David Kleijwegt on the freakfolk movement featuring Antony & the Johnsons, Vashti Bunyan, CocoRosie and Devendra Banhart.
The action-packed music program will be partially in the Off_corso this year, due to the closing down of Nighttown. Another new location is Lantaren/Venster, which will help in spreading the festival folk around. More space means more fun, and Motel Mozaïque proves it with 120 days, Akron/Family, Bunny Rabbit, Digitalism, Heavy Trash (Jon Spencer), Jamie T., Jesse Sykes & the Sweet Hereafter, Nico Muhly, the Bees, Priestbird, and so many others.
