Crimson clover

Trifolium incarnatum

Its Latin name, Incarnatum, signifies "blood red". Meaning that the plant, if compared to man, really pushes beyond limits; literally "giving its blood" for the work, project and ideas that it started. The plant normally grows in forest margins, fields and roadsides.

This vibrant red herb is an annual flowering plant, native to Europe but can also be found in parts of the U.S. and in Japan. This plant is often used in agriculture to aid in nitrogen levels in crops, taking nitrogen from the air and adding it into the soil for nitrification. The plant is abundant with nutrients such as calcium, chromium, magnesium, niacin, phosphorus, potassium, thiamine, and vitamin C. Some say that the isoflavone in Crimson clover has estrogen-like effects and could help reduce some menopause symptoms such as hot flashes and night sweats and even other illnesses that may arise due to a decrease in estrogen levels,  yet its efficacy is still debated within the scientific community.
