Aquaponics to-do list

Daily to dos:

  • Adding Nutrients (before midday)
  • Spray plants everyday with pressured hose
  • Add canal water in the Sump Tank (twice a week)
  • Check that the fan plug is connected 
  • Testing and logging pH (beginning of day)
  • Checking Water Flow
  • Tidying and Closing up
  • Checking Plant Health

Bring cat into greenhouse (to prevent mice)

Keep an eye on the weather for storms

  • Water lab test (first day of every month, earlier in the week is better)
  • Clean the pipes
  • Clean the windows

Questions that come up during tours:

  • Are the catfish happy?
  • What is the connection between aquaponics and art?
  • Is urine suitable as a fertilizer? Is it safe to eat vegetables grown with urine?
  • How old is the system?
  • If the system would get flushed, where would the water go?

  • Collecting evaporating water (is sun power enough)
