Ignite
Ignite is run by locals, for locals. Fast-paced and merciless, speakers get five minutes to present, making use of twenty slides that auto-advance every fifteen seconds. All presentations are given in English.
Speakers
Helen Kopnina
Helen is a researcher and lecturer at the Sustainable Business program of The Hague University of Applied Science. She'll be speaking a bit about the anthropology of environmental education, and why this is, now more than ever, so important.
Teun Vonk
Teun's work concerns the relationship between the individual and the group. As a director he takes over control of a group and unveils the group's dynamics, resulting in bewitching short films.
Noortje van Eekelen
There is something uniquely fresh and clear about Noortje's graphic work, without it becoming even slightly pedantic or overly simplistic. Find out how she employs design to increase autonomous decision making.
Jan Dirk van der Burg
While Jan Dirk's friend Thomas lived in Teheran he was subscribed to the NRC Handelsblad. However, every time the newspaper came in, Iranian civil servants had blocked out parts of the pictures with blue stickers. Jan Dirk made a book of these pages, Censorship Daily, and will present it tonight.
Ubi de Feo
Always wanted to learn more about programming? From Zero to C is a new approach to programming developed by Ubi and his Hello, Savants! collective that provides you with a thorough understanding of what a programming language actually is in terms of the mathematical structure that is the core of these languages.
Thijs van Vuure
Thijs is enrolled in the research master Brain & Cognitive Sciences. Following the American philosopher Thomas Nagel (What is it like to be a bat? 1974), he wonders what it is like to be a bird. A project on perception, experience and consciousness.
Sander Polderman
Sander creates images which combine intuitive suggestion with emotive clearness, agression with tenderness and beauty with vulgarity. Questioning the world and himself through his art, his preferred tools of trade are pen, pencil, felt tip marker & paint brush.
Lize Korpershoek
Lize draws, writes, and makes t-shirts and videos. She also likes cats.
Alex Winters
A 360° rotation machine that holds and moves him around his canvas; a bike with graphite wheels that leave pencil marks behind. These are just two of the drawing machines Alex has built. Find out more tonight.
Jonas Vorwerk
After studying mechanical engineering, a three year stint at a webdesign agency, and four years of interactive installations at Willem De Kooning, Jonas is a free man. This has resulted in a variety of projects including an interactive cube-pixel installation, greatfirewallofchina.org (test in real-time if your website is being censored), and hierzijnwij.nu, a website that allows you to follow the work on the Noord/Zuidlijn live.
Pet van de Luijtgaarden
Pet is an artist, photographer and collector who is fascinated with stuff. He buys entire collections of objects such as disposable lighters, frogs, G.I. Joe action figures and Flippo's. Tonight he'll give you an insight into the 1001 collections he gathered on Marktplaats, and how he's going to put them to good use.
Daan Weddepohl (Peerby)
Daan is the CEO of Peerby. Instead of buying something you might use only once, why not borrow it from a neighbor? Peerby.nl is a website where you can offer and ask for things you need. Sharing instead of consuming and discarding. Daan will tell you more.
