Introduction to programming with Processing

Computation is for everyone. It’s for artists, musicians, biologists, doctors, dancers, animators, bankers, photographers, librarians, fashion designers, architects, psychologists, journalists, and writers, just to name a few.
This workshop will teach you the basics of computer programming. We'll start with the fundamentals of computer graphics (pixels, digital color, and coordinate systems) and focus on the core concepts of computation (variables, conditionals, iteration, functions, and objects). In addition, we'll touch on some more advanced techniques such as text parsing, image processing, networking, and computer vision.

The trainer

Daniel Shiffman works as an Assistant Arts Professor at the Interactive Telecommunications Program at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. Originally from Baltimore, Daniel received a BA in Mathematics and Philosophy from Yale University and a Master’s Degree from the Interactive Telecommunications Program. He is the author of Learning Processing: A Beginner’s Guide to Programming Images, Animation, and Interaction.
