Jazz, hip hop and UK Soul are joined in a completely logical way by the British alto saxophonist/rapper Soweto Kinch. On his most recent CD The New Emancipation he comments on street life with socially conscious raps, loud beats and warm solos. He references both forward thinking jazz artists such as Charles Mingus, as well as critical thinkers in rap such as KRS-One. ‘An unusually powerful force as both a contemporary jazz musician and an unsanctimonious social commentator’ (The Guardian).
