The Blikopeners of the Stedelijk Museum (young people with part-time jobs in the museum) are proud to present Duplicate It! During this evening, the Blikopeners of the Stedelijk examine the thin line dividing an original from a reproduction. The evening is all about the influence of reproductions on modern and contemporary art, the museum, and the public.
We will return to the building’s original purpose: as the printing press for Trouw, de Volkskrant, and Het Parool. From the heyday of newspapers, film and television to the emergence of new media, the surfeit of reproductions in our daily lives has increased dramatically. But what influence does this have on modern and contemporary art? What are the positions of the unique works in the Stedelijk collection in a world in which status is increasingly based on the huge spread of images and free access to ideas?
A glittering program packed with art and music in the special environment of the TROUW/ De Verdieping.
