Ignite
Ignite is run by locals, for locals. Fast-paced and merciless, speakers get five minutes to present, making use of twenty slides that auto-advance every fifteen seconds. All presentations are given in English.
Speakers
Itamar Gilboa
For a year, Itamar kept track of everything he consumed. Food Chain Project shows white plaster casts of all these products. Among them: 133 cucumbers, 567 sandwiches, 111 liters red wine, 18 kroketten, 155 lemons, 123 liters diet Coke, and 490 tomatoes.
Brouwerij De Vriendschap
De Vriendschap is a relatively young brewery from Amsterdam-Noord. In a little over a year, friends Aart and Peter exchanged their 10-liter brewing starters kit for a 1000-liter pan at a professional brewery. We'll not only be hearing about their plans, but they'll also be selling their bottled beers and perhaps a few experiments.
Allison Guy
In August 2013, the first laboratory hamburger was revealed. Next Nature Lab takes the idea of lab-meat a bit further, and invited cooks, designers, engineers and artists to imagine meals in a world in which laboratory food is normal. These ideas and designs have been collected in the Vitro Meat Cookbook.
Baked Alaska
Baked Alaska sends adventurous couples of mysterious cultural dates in Amsterdam. Sarah will tell us more about this project, which was initiated to raise money for students in South Africa.
Niels 't Hooft
It's 2018 and Google has announced the end of the world. Employed by Google, Randy, Lua and Erhardt ask people about their deepest desires and fears. They use the information they collect, however, for an illegal plan in which eco-terrorism, suspicious meat production and euthanasia go hand-in-hand. Then comes Martha, who changes everything. Find out about Niels' novel De verdwijners tonight.
Johanna Illerhag and Nikki Oosterveen
Last July Johanna and Nikki graduated from the Gerrit Rietvelad Academie, VAV department. For their graduation project they did research into a group of 19 Icelandic lawyers who invected their own mini-society. Find out more about these unusual nomads tonight.
Multitude
After completing the BA Graphic Design at ArtEZ Arnhem and the MA Design Cultures at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Rozemarijn Koopmans, Nick Topp and David de Zwart formed Multitude. In a short period of time they've already completed projects such as the design of a new book series for Uitgeverij De Geus, and the visual identity and website for artist residency Hotel Maria Kapel {HMK}. They also designed the campaign and catalogue of Tuttobene, the presentation of young Dutch design talent at the design week in Milan.
Jerome Symons
Jerome is a sculptor and took part in the PARK project, a bottom-up exhibition and research space at Mediamatic exploring the core concerns of the Gezi protests. Tonight Jerome will tell us about his attempt to initiate a Public Art Biennale in Ankara.
Sander Wassink
Sander turns his attention to the discarded, the abandoned, the left-over, and attempts to reimagine what can be done with the already partially formed. He is interested in processes and aesthetics of deconstructing and repurposing, his work resulting in often colourful, object-centered pieces.
Naomi Felder
Naomi will present her 2-year research into what city living means to children and their parents. Gezin in de Stad suggests ways to improve urban life beyond an increase of rules and design.
Overtreders W
Spatial design agency Overtreders W was founded in 2006 by Reinder Bakker and Hester van Dijk. Navigating themes such as sustainability, locality, social cohesion and flexibility, they design indoor and outdoor spaces. Find out about their work tonight.
Sander Cummings
Wanaka slows you down. It's a restaurant-platform for innovators around the world to showcase their goods and, more importantly, let you eat well. Founder Sander Cummings will tell you more.
