Ignite
Ignite is run by locals, for locals. Fast-paced and merciless, Ignite evenings are fun, thought-provoking nights, full of fresh ideas and clever insights. Speakers get five minutes to present their idea. They make use of twenty slides that auto-advance every fifteen seconds. Ignite serves as a platform for locals to connect offline and have a drink together. All presentations will be given in English.
Speakers
Raoul de Jong
Raoul de Jong had his first appearance as a writer at the age of twenty, but the past years he danced a lot. A book that is a musical, the first musical book on planet earth, seemed a logic result. The book is there, but the accompanying music isn’t yet. So now, he is looking for some funding. During Ignite, Raoul tells you everything about his wonderful idea.
Mingus Vogel
Les Oiseaux de Merde is about to launch a new online service that will make local economies flourish again: using a phone camera with internet connection to sell unique products from local markets. Mingus Vogel shows you how you can buy a Moroccan scarf via a live stream.
David De Buyser
David De Buyser is a composer of mainly electro-acoustic music. The last few years his work evolved to other art forms and his latest work is a project called 'F-BOX'. During Ignite David De Buyser will tell about his musical instrument of which the sound is influenced by a biological score that consists of fungus/mold.
Mundo Resink
His presentation will be about the common qualities he has found in each of the people he ran into, heard or read about: fire, abundance, doing good and 'screw the rules'. For Ignite it will be a five-minute burst of humorous inspiration that allows people to reflect on how they're leading their own working lives.
Dinie Besems
Dinie Besems designs sculptural jewelry which has several interfaces with art, architecture and even food. Her pieces of jewelry are not isolated objects, but reflect the relationship with the owner and society.
Shevia Limmen & Nanda de Block
Inspired by today's world of art, technology, and social interaction, LocoMoco designs creative concepts for events, guerrilla marketing, digital magazines, and exhibitions. Studio Locomoco will present it’s latest initiative DOTS Digital Art Magazine, an iPad App that puts contemporary art in the spotlight using an innovative and interactive approach. Shevia has brought together a team of enthusiastic creatives, who have contributed their own expertise to the creation of Dots. Shevia and Nanda will tell you all about these cooperations and Dots.
Ine Stultjens
ZTRDG (short for Saturday) stands for pure and natural food. They try to create a conscience about sustainable and healthy food. You can find healthy recipes on postcards and on their website. Ine Stultjens brings inspiration to the kitchen table.
Viktorija Medvedeva
Viktorija Medvedeva is a multidisciplinary artist graduated from Rietveld Academy, in her work she couples a fine radar for 'the unintended' to a strong sense of discipline and a clear cut image language. Her work consists of sculptures, photos, installations and video-installations.
Koen Kleijn
The Etruscans feature in all histories of the Italian peninsula as 'the civilisation that preceded the Romans'. The only folks interested in them are archeologists.
Perhaps that's justified. Perhaps not. Art critic, writer and film/ documentary maker Koen likes to make a point about Etruscan civilisation - with the aid of very recent DNA research - that may change your view of what 'Europe' really is.
Don't worry: no vases.
Katinka van Gorkum
Katinka van Gorkum is a visual artist based in The Hague. In her installations, photo’s video’s and performances, she stages the strangeness and absurdity of everyday-life. The starting point of a work is often something that seems irrelevant which she then gives, sometimes litteraly, a stage, or places in an enviroment that reminds of a (film)set.
Ellen Sluis & Fei An Tjan
Baracco #55 is a house in a low-income community of Rio de Janeiro, that will be transformed into a cultural incubator. It will host visitors (Brazilian as well as foreigners) for a period of time ranging from a few days to several weeks, in order to meet the community and share their mutual/artistic practices.
Maze de Boer
Students and Professors from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy and Sandberg Institute designed their own new accommodation. The building exists of a platform, a tower and a bridge which are integrated with the existing building structure. Ignite presents the winning design team FedLev to reflect on their design.
