Stelarc is a performance artist who uses technology to amplify his body. A follower of post humanism, his work feels like walking through a science fiction novel with a touch of body horror. In his piece “Ear on Arm Suspension” (March, 2012) he suspends himself from hooks to show the weaknesses of our human forms; we feel cold, experience pain and eventually, we are exhausted. He then suggests improvements using invasive robotics that he demonstrates on himself.
