Thomas Thwaites
Thomas Thwaites tried to become a goat to escape the fear inherent in being human. The project became an exploration of how close modern technology can bring us to fulfilling an ancient human dream: adopting traits from other animals. But instead of the ferocity of a bear or the perspective of a bird, the trait most useful in modern life is something else; being present in the moment perhaps. Anyway, he ended up in the Alps, on four legs, on a goat farm, with a pen prosthesis on his chest, eating grass and becoming a goat.
Arne Hendriks
Arne Hendriks is an artist and researcher in the field of human ecology. He explores the boundaries of specific cultural values that define our relationship with the planet. His projects include The Incredible Shrinking Man which explores whether it is possible to shrink the human species to better fit the earth, and Fatberg, building an island out of fat. As a regular Mediamatic collaborator, he led several projects to draw attention to our (sometimes twisted) relationship with the planet and its resources, including Kool Abundance, The Starvation Experiment, and the construction of a sacred pigeon tower out of recycled newspapers. Now he is working on these dove towers again: but with the living mycelium and discovering the different stages of living material.
Miles Worner
Miles Worner (@the_way_of_the_duck) is a young designer and artist trained in the Leisure Department at the Design Academy Eindhoven, who graduated Cum Laude in 2021. Their current practice and philosophy is based on embodying the frivolous behaviour we see in ducks.
