Come join the second edition of our Penny for your Thoughts Presentations, where makers, designers and artists present new ideas and future project plans!
Arthur Guilleminot is exploring hygiene and disgust by making soap out of piss and waste. Jennifer Kumer makes thinking about our death a little easier by developing an end-of-life conversation game. Irina Birger brings together art, therapy and sex positivity.
Soap, Piss and Waste
Arthur Guilleminot’s “ecodeviant” practice led to the making of Piss Soap. A soap made out of urine is a product that undeniably subverts our normative associations when it comes to cleanliness. He is currently expanding this project by doing research on making soap out of all kinds of waste.
Disgusting? Or Not? Arthur will share his knowledge and techniques on making soap out of waste materials, creating an alternative narrative and a dialogue around waste that aims to decondition our vision upon the “dirty” matter.
What are your Death Wishes?
There comes a time when we must face the inevitability of our own mortality. But, how can we have any control over what kind of arrangements we want for our dead selves? This can be a pretty stressful and even bleak process to think about, so what if we could solve all those difficult questions through a game?
Game designer Jennifer Kumer has been developing When My Time Comes, an end-of-life conversation game which helps us do just that. Through a series of questions and prompts, Jennifer's game makes thinking about death a lot easier, and even a little fun. Having a game on the topic of mortality helps reduce the societal stigma in having these kinds of conversations. Come hear Jennifer's research on game development and participate in a small playtest.
Sex Positivity with Dr. Birger
Dr. Birger is a series of one-on-one conversations and drawing sessions set up in an installation format. This time the dialogues with Dr. Birger will be centered on the sexual fantasies of the participants. Irina Birger will visualize the conversations, incorporating her own responses into the drawings she will simultaneously make. Each session lasts approximately 30 minutes.

Penny For Your Thoughts
There is something uniquely inspiring when looking into artistic processes that are still in progress: unpolished, experimental and open-ended. Penny for your Thoughts is our project nursery, where we stimulate project proposals by offering them a stage.
