Hildegard von Bingen: A Renaissance Woman Ahead of Her Time

Hildegard von Bingen's life and work serve as the cornerstone of this enlightening workshop. In an era when opportunities for women were severely limited, Hildegard shattered boundaries and became an intellectual powerhouse. She was the founder and abbess of a women's abbey, a musicologist, and a healer with unparalleled knowledge of herbs, plants, and their healing properties.

Beyond self-care, Hildegard emphasized the importance of our connection with nature, fostering what she called "primordial joy." Central to the workshop is Hildegard's practical guidance on nature and healing. Her writings describe medicinal herbs, causes of disease, and various treatment methods. Hildegard believed in the significance of detoxifying agents to cleanse both our bodies and lives. Detaching from old habits can create space for new practices, contributing to overall well-being.

One of the captivating aspects of this workshop is the hands-on experience of crafting herbal infusions. Participants have the opportunity to choose between olive oil and vinegar as their base and select their healing herbs. This activity not only connected participants with the wisdom of Hildegard but also empowered them to create personalized healing potions. These herbal-infused blends could be used for cooking, massages, or as skincare remedies. Designed to bring joy to the heart and promote health benefits, becomes a tangible link between the workshop and everyday life.

This workshop beautifully illustrates how the past can be a source of inspiration and practical tools for promoting joy and wellness today. Hildegard von Bingen's Herbs of Joy with Lynn Shore is an immersion into the world of healing herbs, recipes, and holistic well-being.
