What will you do
Explore the fascinating connection between food, heritage, and culture! Join artist Noa Jansma for a unique workshop in the heart of Mediamatic Kitchen. In this hands-on experience, we'll delve into the surprising world of Japanese knotweed, often seen as an unwelcome invader. But did you know this tenacious plant has a rich history and unexpected culinary uses? Noa will guide you through the process of baking a delicious crumble pie, using the vibrant colours and surprising flavours of knotweed. Learn about the cultural significance of food, explore sustainable alternatives, and discover the hidden potential of what we might consider an "invasive" plant.
Japanese Knotweed Season 2024
Every spring, Mediamatic organises a season around Japanese knotweed. Knotweed is a fast-growing plant known in Europe for being considered invasive. What many do not know, however, is that this plant species has a host of positive properties. During this season we will explore how to live in harmony with this controversial plant.
