What you will do

In this workshop, you will explore the process of jewellery-making with designer and jeweller Weimin Zhu. You will learn the tools and techniques used in modern jewellery production such as; filing, sawing, soldering and polishing.

The workshop consists of three parts, constructing a ring design, soldering it together, and finalizing your creation.

You will use standard jewellery materials like brass and silver to create your own rings, inspired by the Playful Jewelry exhibition by Weimin Zhu.

Weimin Zhu

Weimin Zhu is a jewellery and object designer from China. Her designs mainly focus on creating an intimate relationship between the objects in our daily lives and ourselves, especially our inner mental feeling. In her design, Wei Min highlights the wearability of jewellery and the 'playful' purpose of wearing it mixed with its interactive effect on the wearer's body. In 2022 Wei Min graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy with Playful Jewelry for the inner world, exhibited in Mediamatic this summer. In autumn 2022, she starts her master's at the Design Academy in Eindhoven.
