I asked them why they would say that, and they said art is about flowers and feelings, and that’s just for girls and gay people.
I didn’t feel like explaining things to them. From now on, I’ll just tell people I’m a tourist.
Art is for Girls
I was out collecting objects from the street when a group of Turkish kids asked me in English what I was doing.
I explained that I was an artist and that this was for an art project. As I tried to tell them what it was about, they interrupted me with a question: “so, are you gay?”
