Workshop results will be presented on 15 June at 16.00 at the World Wide Video Festival (Auditorium, 11th floor).

Digital interactive media offer alternative ways to tell and experience stories. This workshop is about exploring these ways in a very practical way.

With an international group of authors you will design your own project and build a working prototype.

The combination interactive media with moving image offers the possibility to explore new ways of telling stories, both in form and in content. An interactive video project can contain multiple image tracks that exist parallel to each other, forming each other’s context. It can open an ‘issue space’ where the user actually discusses with the views of the author. By nature an interactive video requires multiple views to watch all its content.
An interactive video only assumes a final form in the hands of the user, who has to make choices in viewing the project. The key issue of interactive narration and also the central question of this workshop is: how can the users actions and choices be integrated meaningfully in an interactive story?

As practical research tool, participants will use the Korsakow System. Korsakow projects can be published on CDrom or DVDrom and on the Internet, the footage is then streamed. You can work with your own footage or use our material. No special technical knowledge is required: technical assistants will be present throughout the sessions, which will be conducted in English.

If you are a film- or video maker, interested in participating in this workshop send e-mail to korsakow@mediamatic.net
Workshop days are 10 – 14 June. Workshop sessions take place at the Post CS (former TPG-building), Oosterdokskade 5, 5th floor, Amsterdam, from 10.00 to 16.00 on all days.
