The introduction of digital photography changed the way in which we look at images. It is possible to manipulate pictures but you can no longer track those technical changes. The traditional view, that a picture should represent a true liking, has changed dramatically. This has changed the way in which we look at pictures in our day-to-day life. However, it also alters our view of reality.
This book explores these new views and relationships and how we perceive the world around us. Mulder stresses why photography is so much different than other media disciplines such as painting, film and video art. All in all, he presents what is normal and extraordinary about the visual culture of the twenty-first century.
