Designed by Mediamatic under the direction of Willem Velthoven.
The development and refinement of the design and concept was done with a large group of colleagues that did many contributions over the years 2001 to 2011 when most of the shaping took place.
At Mediamatic the site was an important driver of the -then revolutionary- AnyMeta system. AnyMeta was a very early example of a semantic web based social media system with strong capability for communication and heritage. It was developed at Mediamatic and sold to Driebit in 2013.
In early 2017, the site was rebuilt by Driebit.nl. It retained its original design, but the AnyMeta engine was replaced with the more contemporary Ginger and Zotonic. The architecture of Ginger and Zotonic is by Marc Worell who also was the lead developer of AnyMeta.
