That makes TAC think. What effects does obtaining the title have for Eindhoven? And for TAC, as breeding, idea factory and meeting point? A possible answer will be given in the form of a scale model of the Temporary Art Centre itself.
TAC Model
The scale of TAC is a metaphor for the world design capital. What will remain? What will disappear? And, above all, what will be added? In the model is room for the users of TAC; people who work in the TAC building. They fill their space with own work and ideas. So everybody, coming from all sorts of backgrounds, contribute to this project, which surveys as a living and working environment.
Design contest
Now we know how TAC could see it, the effects of becoming World Design Capital. But we don’t know what the vision of the outer world would be. That question is the second part of TAC’s participation in the Dutch Design Week. How would a poster for Eindhoven Design Capital look like, designed by designers and artists?
The contest is open to designers and artists who live and work in the Netherlands, and to Dutch artists in general. The poster must contain the words ‘World Design Capital’, ‘Eindhoven’ and ‘2012’. The design must be reproducible and delivered digitally.
The winning posters will be displayed in TAC and at public spaces in Eindhoven.
Pulp please! Design Capital Party
But every DDW starts with a party! And we bring you a good one. TAC opens the Dutch Design Week with Le Prince Harry, tEdDieDRUm, Duflan Dufan, Surminski and VON-G.
These men make electronical post punk, according to the expert. For the laymen: cool, delicious, extremely danceable music which makes sure you go to bed with a smile that cracks your head in two parts and dance cramps in your legs. Hurray!
If you want to participate in the contest, send an e-mail to walter@tac.nu called ‘World Design Capital Contest’ before the 20th of September. In short, motivate your participation.
