Take a bus from Amsterdam to Rotterdam and back again for the dual Appel/ Witte de With opening. Curated by Renske Janssen and Nicolaus Schafhausen on the other kinds of street art.

5 p.m. Opening of solo exhibition Somewhere in Time - Melik Ohanian at De Appel, Amsterdam

9 p.m. Introductory speech by Street curators Renske Janssen and Nicolaus Schafhausen.
11 p.m. After-party Witte de With & De Appel at Toko 94, Witte de Withstraat 94b, Rotterdam. Supported by BLEND.
2 a.m. Return bus to Amsterdam.

Friday 8 – Sunday 10 Sep
All day The word on the street
What does the street need? What is the best place for art? These are a few of the questions that will be posed by a group of 20 students during the festival The World of Witte de With. Each interviewee will be offered a specially designed T-shirt, a limited edition by artist and designer Joachim Baan. Wearers gain free entry to Witte de With for the rest of 2006.

Saturday 23 Sep
6 p.m. Film program
Featuring Lawrence Weiner’s Plowmans Lunch (28 mins, 26 seconds 1982). “Politics, I think, imposes on style too much???, states a child in Weiner’s film, which draws upon sources as diverse as the medieval poem Piers Plowman and modern art theory.
Followed by surprise film.
Introduction by Renske Janssen and special guest.
Screening in Witte de With’s auditorium.

6 p.m. Artist’s talk
Aram Tanis (b. 1978) is an Amsterdam-based artist who recently finished his studies at De Ateliers. Current themes in his works are isolation, mass of people and anonymity. The buildings and cityscapes in his photographs do not simply have the status of documents of city life, but rather confront the viewer with the bare realities of the contemporary human condition. For this conversation with curator Renske Janssen, Tanis will talk about the film Samaritan Girl (2004) by director Kim Ki-Duk, which has had great influence on his practice.

7:30 p.m. Artist’s talk
Matt Stokes (b. 1973), is a Newcastle-based artist and winner of the 2006 Becks Futures Prize. Interested in popular and particularly music culture, he is best known for his video Long After Tonight (2005) documenting the vibrant nostalgia of a 1960s Northern Soul venue. Stokes will be in conversation with Nicolaus Schafhausen at Witte de With prior to his performance Sacred Selections.

The ticket to the performance gives one free entry to Witte de With and an exhibition ticket from Street gives free entry to the performance.
