Arduino is an open source computer platform. The Arduino project began in 2005 as a program for students at the Interaction Design Institute Ivrea in Ivrea, Italy, with the aim of providing an inexpensive and simple way for beginners and professionals to create devices that communicate with their environment using sensors and actuators. The first Arduino workshop in the Netherlands took place at Mediamatic and the Arduino has become an indispensable concept in the world of open-source prototype development. Inventor of the Arduino and lecturer of the Ivrea design institute (nowadays the Domus Academy), Massimo Banzi was present as trainer at this workshop. Read the report here.
