“Reconnecting with the female body” is a collaboration between visual artist Irma Joanne and photographer Lana Prins. The female body is the main theme in both their individual practices. Their many years of friendship means that they know each other's work and way of thinking in intimate detail. Both artists experience, in their own way, difficulty connecting with ‘her’ female body. They see how many women in their environment struggle with the same issue of experiencing a disconnection with the body and are going along the same path searching to reconnect with themselves. Sharing this individual process with other women is powerful and builds sisterhood. Together with other women, Lana and Irma create space to look at ‘our bodies’ with grace and understanding. By exhibiting the photos from this journey in the installation they want to encourage this individual path and at the same time express the feeling of togetherness.
