Photographers, artists and designers are collaborating more often and boundaries between disciplines seem to fade. The role of video and the internet is more prominent than ever.
Can fashion photography be art and does fashion influence art? Are boundaries still valid and in which way are the disciplines developing and overlapping?
These question among others will be discussed during the talkshow: Talking Fashion and Art organized by Foam_Fotografiemuseum Amsterdam and De Verdieping.
The evening with Michel Mallard (art director, curator photography Festival Hyères), Amie Dicke (artist) and Jason Evans (photographer, writer) amongst others, features a discussion, a column and musical guest appearance. Short films and visual material will be shown in relation to the retrospective in Foam of world famous photographic duo Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. They are amongst the very few artists that have successfully crossed the line drawn between fashion and art and have simultaneously managed to maintain careers in both fields.
I must say, it was very interesting. I liked it very much.
I reccomend you to go to the Foam and see the exhibition Pretty much everything of Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. Still at the Foam till the 15 September 2010.
