Ad Vingerhoets is affiliated with the Department of Medical and Clinical Psychology of Tilburg University, Tilburg, The Netherlands. After his PhD thesis (Psychosocial stress: An experimental approach, Life events, coping, and psychobiological functioning), he developed expertise in the areas of stress, emotions, psychosomatics and quality of life.
Dr. Vingerhoets has edited/authored 19 books and has written over 400 articles in academic journals. He is also involved in the organization of the international Tilburg University conference series on Emotions, Health, and Well-being. His work on homesickness and nostalgia, leisure sickness, but in particular crying attracted much media attention and coverage.
