Magdalena Akantisz, born in 1987, is an Austrian Designer focusing on graphics, experimental installations as well as olfactory & gustatory approaches to Design.
Magdalena first studied
graphic design & advertising at the University of applied Arts in Vienna. For her graduation project „
weupcycle.com“ in 2011 she won the „Rookie of the Year“ awarded by the Creative Club Austria.
In 2012, shortly after starting to work as an independent graphic designer, she founded the duo mathak+mahlknecht together with Peter Mahlknecht. Their creations range from classical graphic, product and window display design up to experimental and socio-critical installations.
Within her industrial design studies, which she started end of 2011 also at University of applied Arts, her love and interest for food and smell related topics emerged. In 2016 she spent half a year in France, to participate in the master studies of food design at École de Design Nantes Atlantiques.
2017 she graduated in industrial design, with the project „Olfactory and gustatory approaches – the exploration of sensual eating“, for which she designed and produced a wide range of experimental cutlery and table ware objects.
