Cultural Researcher and Curator
José Luis de Vicente is a Researcher and writer working around the edges of New Media Arts, Digital creativity, and innovation in Design and Culture.
Recent Fields of Interest include Information Visualization, Green Design, Spectrum politics, Media Architecture, Senseable Cities, Software Aesthetics, archeology and histories of Digital Culture, Magic and Technology.
He is a member of the board of FAD, Barcelona's centenary Asociation of Architects and Designers. He is the director of the VISUALIZAR program on Information Visualization at Medialab Prado, Madrid.
Previously he has been coartistic director of the OFFF Festival on Software Aesthetics, (www.offf.ws); Deputy Director of ArtFutura, Spain's first festival of Art and Technology (www.artfutura.org), and associated curator of Sónar, Barcelona's acclaimed festival of Advanced Music and Multimedia Art (www.sonar.es)
Current and ongoing projects include The Atlas of Electromagnetic Space (www.spectrumaltas.org), a data blog about the history of Spectrum regulation, ARQUISET, Barcelona's week of architecture (Resident Curator), and the Exhibition Machines and Souls, currently on show at the Reina Sofia National Museum of Modern Art, Madrid.
He lectures in theory and history of the Internet and interactive media in the Escuela de Diseño Elisava of Barcelona, and writes regularly about digital culture on Spanish newspapers.
