As a part of the Cees Lab he has helped to develop a novel cell-sculpting technique, using nanofabricated structures to shape cells into defined geometries and understand the orchestration of the intracellular architecture of bacteria. Sometimes this scientific endeavour yields images that are unexpectedly beautiful and interesting from an artistic point of view.
