HS - HEIMSPIEL 2011

From 29 March to 3 April, 2011, the Kulturstiftung des Bundes (German Federal Cultural Foundation) in cooperation with Schauspiel Köln will hold a festival inviting artists and theorists, theatre ensembles and independent scenes to Cologne. Heimspiel 2011 (HOME GAME 2011) presents productions by German and international theatre-makers at the interface between intervention, theatre, performance, and political activism. HEIMSPIEL 2011 (HOME GAME 2011) is a festival including a symposium on contemporary theatre practice and workshops for theatre professionals on the development of new theatrical forms.

The Fonds Heimspiel, which the Kulturstiftung des Bundes (German Federal Cultural Foundation) established in 2006, will end after a period of five years in October 2011. More than 50 projects by metropolitan and state theatres have been funded during this time. They are all dedicated to the urban and social reality of their cities and involve the population in the formative process of the artistic works. HEIMSPIEL 2011 (HOME GAME 2011) will take stock and continue the debate on the metropolitan theatre of the future.

More than 100 invited guests from the field of theatre, art, architecture, theatre studies, and sociology will gather in Cologne for six days to exchange their experiences and present biographical theatre projects, documentary works, as well as installations and actions in urban space.

The workshops for professionals will be held by well-known theatre-makers and collectives such as SIGNA or Rimini Protokoll. The call for participation in the workshops can be found starting 1 December, 2010 at www.heimspiel2011.de.

Please save the date. The detailed programme will be published in January 2011. In case you have any questions, please feel free to contact us now already.
