Pemberton is a researcher, author, public speaker, and occasional broadcaster, based at the CWI, The Dutch National Research Centre for Mathematics and Informatics. He was involved in the Web from the very beginning (organizing two workshops at the rst Web Conference at CERN in 1994). He is also involved in the W3C, co-designed the programming language ABC (the forerunner of Python), and co-designed HTML, CSS, XHTML, XForms, RDFa, and several other Web technologies. His research is broadly in interaction, and how the underlying software architecture can support users.
He was a speaker at the 2017 event Get Prepped: On and Off the Grid.
